形態特徵

• A large, deciduous tree, 10–25 m high; branches smooth, terete, with prominent white lenticel.
• Leaves simple, alternate, elliptic or elliptic-ovate, 4–13.5 cm long, 2.5–6 cm broad, thinly chartaceous, lateral veins 6–9 pairs, veins raised on both sides, acute or obtuse at both apex and base; petiole adaxially channeled, 4–10 mm long; stipule triangular-lanceolate, about 3 mm long.
• Flowers axillary, staminate flowers in many-flowered fascicles, pistillate 1- or few-flowered. Staminate flowers: sepals 4, biseriate, spreading, orbicular-ovate, about 1 mm long; stamens 4 or 5, filaments free; pistillode lack; disc annular; pedicels slender, 6–15 mm long. Pistillate flowers: sepals 4, biseriate, triangular-ovate, unequal, the outer ones larger, about 1.5–2 mm long; styles 3, free or basally connate, spreading, bifid; ovary 3- or 4-celled, ovules 2 each cell; disc annular; pedicels 4–10 mm long.
• Capsule depressed-globose, 3-furrowed, 8–10 mm across, breaking up irregularly into cocci when dry, endococci papery. Seeds trigonous, 3.9–4.8 mm long, with thickened, bluish sarcotesta, the endotesta rugose or furrowed on back.

分布

• 台灣 : Taiwan, known only from the northern and southern regions, very rare.
• 世界 : India, Ceylon, Java to the Philippines.
